The European Accessibility Act and your online store: what gets checked, and a free audit
Since 28 June 2025 the European Accessibility Act applies to online stores selling to consumers in the EU. Only microenterprises are exempt: fewer than 10 staff and no more than 2 million euros in turnover. Cross either limit and the store is covered. The practical standard is EN 301 549, which points to WCAG 2.1 AA.

Nothing installed on your site, no staging environment needed.
What you get
- Who is covered: every business above the microenterprise limits; crossing either one is enough.
- EN 301 549 points to WCAG 2.1 AA. Findings that only WCAG 2.2 adds are marked separately.
- What gets checked on a store: catalogue, product page, cart, checkout, payment errors and the customer account, desktop and mobile.
- A fix map grouped by design token and component, so a developer fixes the source, not every page.
- A draft accessibility statement costs $400. We never call a site compliant, certified or guaranteed.
Questions and answers
Does an accessibility widget make my store meet the EAA?
No. An overlay script does not change the code a screen reader or a keyboard user meets, and it is not what EN 301 549 measures.
Is the audit really free?
Yes. You pay only for remediation, if you choose us for it: $120 a state, less from 25 and 100 states, minimum 20 states.
What about payment frames from Stripe or Adyen?
The obligation stays with the merchant. The report lists each third-party frame and what to request from its vendor.
